Junior candidates for the Minor in Visual Arts at Princeton University are required to make two versions of an artist book by the end of their Fall Semester—one for their own portfolio, and the other for Princeton University's archive. My project, entitled, MINDMAP, is a continuation of my artistic work within The Company Dance Theatre's Archives, specifically photographs from the ballet Ode to the Duke (2009).
The work created in these artist books are an homage to Tony Wilson O.D., founder of The Company Dance Theatre and my first ever dance teacher, whose creativity, expression, and drive, have deeply inspired my creative practice as a whole. In MINDMAP, I work to decode the methods of his artistry, finding beauty and ingenuity in the mystery, chaos, and indecipherability of the works he has left behind.
